Jennifer Lopez may… or may not… return for a second season of "American Idol."
The singer/actress told Ellen DeGeneres on her talk show Wednesday that she's not sure if she will come back. Lopez talks about "Idol" at 2:45 in the video.
"I don't know if I can go for a third year," she said when asked about spending a third season as a judge on Fox's reality TV singing competition.
"I miss doing other things. It really does lock you down."
"Idol" executive producer Nigel Lythgoe has made it clear where he stands on the subject, according to tmz.com.
"We want her back. I want her back," he told the entertainment website.
"I know how much she loves doing the show and how much she cares for the kids."
"...It's a business," he added. "She has to weigh everything. I know she's gotten lots of offers to do movies and other things."
Lythgoe considers her comment on the talk show as a part of the negotiations. It’s not a "no."
Lopez, who performed on her single "Dance Again" on "Idol" last week, was a guest on DeGeneres show with Cameron Diaz so both stars could promote the film "What to Expect When You're Expecting" in theaters now.
"Idol's" live results show airs at 7 p.m. Thursday on Fox, channel 23, cable 5, where host Ryan Seacrest will reveal the top two finalists who will perform in the grand finale.
Also on the show, Lisa Marie Presley will sing "You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet," from her new album "Storm & Grace," and season eight runner-up Adam Lambert will performs his new song, "Never Close Our Eyes."
