Why is this woman shouting? Because "The Motherland Calls."
In honor of the destruction-by-lighting (in the cliched language of popular cultures, supposedly a sign of disapproval from On High) of the so-called "Touchdown Jesus" statue in Ohio, Time Magazine has posted online its list of the "Top 10 Incredibly Large Statues."
Tulsa has two: The Golden Driller is No. 9 on the list, while the "Praying Hands" (or "Healing Hands") at Oral Roberts University, stand (!) at No. 6.
Also on the list is "The Motherland Calls," the gigantic sword-wielding female figure never Volvograd in Russia; the 131-foot tall stainless steel statue of Genghis Khan on a horse somewhere in the middle of Mongolia; the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro; and the Statue of Liberty.
