Sue Paterno, wife of the late Penn State football coach Joe Paterno, will talk to Katie Couric in her first conversation since the Jerry Sandusky child sex scandal rocked the university and her family in 2011.
Paterno, who was married to the coach for 50 years when he died two months after the scandal allegations broke, talks for the first time about the events that unfolded in the aftermath of the Penn State sex scandal. The reputation of the legendary coach was tarnished and he was fired after a key witness told police he had seen Sandusky assaulting a boy in the campus locker room showers and reported it the next day to Paterno.
Assistant football coach Sandusky was tried and sentenced to 30 to 60 years in prison.
Paterno, the winningest coach in Division 1 football history who had served a record 46 years as head coach of the Nittany Lions, was not charged with any crimes at the time of his death.
For the interview, Couric visited Paterno's widow at her home, and will have her as an in-studio guest for her talk show "Katie," scheduled to air at 3 p.m. Monday on KOTV, channel 6.
