The KD Hoops Elite Ball Backpack is lightweight and made of water-resistant ripstop nylon, offering lightweight durability.

When Kevin Durant sat down with Nike to talk about his new backpack, the Nike KD Hoops Elite backpack, he reminded us again of what he keeps in his bag. But the new KD backpack from Nike has more room for other items like shoes, socks and a basketball.

“Those who know me know I like to keep it simple,” Durant said in an interview for an “Inside Access” article at Nike, Inc. “I carry three key things in my backpack – my headphones, bible and chargers. Sometimes my shoes, socks, ball, iPad and water are also along for the ride.”

"Inside Access" is a series providing an inside look at Nike Basketball through the lens of design innovation. Look for new features the first and third Tuesdays of each month throughout the basketball season.

Durant admits that he’s always been a fan of backpacks, but who isn’t. “Since I was seven years old, I’ve always been attached to my backpack,” Durant said. “It represents the hard work I learned from my family, and it will always remind me of my journey to get to where I am.”

This is the second backpack to have the KD logo on it. The first was released last year and it was nice, but a little high from a price standpoint, considering how little room and different pocket options existed.

The KD Elite backpack, according to the Nike specs , is a lightweight and water-resistant bag designed for practical functionality with design help from Durant. The backpack is made of water-resistant ripstop nylon, offering lightweight durability. The internal organization panel includes a lined pocket with zippered closure for small items. The larger, zippered main compartment allows easy access to main items, such as a basketball, while the exterior insulated pocket keeps beverages cool.

Padded and adjustable shoulder straps allow for comfort while carrying and they feature the KD logo on right strap and Nike Swoosh on the left strap.

The new backpack launched Jan. 17 and debuts in the black/blue/orange color option, just in time for Christmas. In January 2013, the second color (Ice Blue/Total Orange/Squadron Blue) is available, followed by the third color (Hyper Blue/Blackened Blue/Volt) in April 2013. The backpack will be available at Nike.com and select retail locations. I purchased my KD backpack last year from Finish Line, so I would expect them to be available there again as well.

You can purchase the backpack from nikestore.com.
