Apparently a whole lot of people want to see what life is like when you’re living on “Avenue Q.”
LOOK Musical Theatre opened its production of this Tony Award-winning musical on Saturday, and the response for tickets has been so great that LOOK artistic director Eric Gibson announced Tuesday that the company will add a performance of the show, 8 p.m. July 1.
Written by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, “Avenue Q” takes a premise similar to that of the children’s TV show “Sesame Street” – puppet characters and adult actors interacting in an urban setting – and upends it in frankly adult, and frankly hilarious, ways.
It is being presented in repertory with LOOK’s other shows – the classic musical “Gypsy” and the farcical “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum,” which opens Saturday.
All performances are in the Tulsa PAC’s Williams Theatre, 110 E. Second St.
Tickets for “Avenue Q” are $32. For more information: 918-583-4267, tulsaworld.com/mytix.
