Four of the most successful authors of books for young readers will be in Oklahoma later this month, to help raise money for the three elementary school libraries destroyed by the May 20 tornados.

Jeff Kinney, author and illustrator of the “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” series, organized the event, which is titled “Drawn Together: Cartoonists Benefit Moore School Libraries.”

Kinney, along with Dav Pilkey, creator of the “Captain Underpants” series; Lincoln Peirce, of the “Big Nate” series; and Stephan Pastis, creator of “Timmy Failure,” will be in Tulsa Sept. 27 at the Cox Business Center, 100 Civic Center. Doors open at 6 p.m., with the program beginning at 7 p.m.

This will be the first time these four writers and artists will participant in a joint event.
Each artist will talk about his work, inspirations and creative processes, then answer questions from the audience.

Admission to “Drawn Together” is $10.

In addition, the authors’ publishers have donated 200 autographed books that will be sold during the event. A poster featuring artwork by each of the artists will also be available for purchase, as well as original art and other memorabilia that will be raffled off.

The four artists will take part in a similar event Sept. 28 at the Lloyd Noble Arena in Norman.

All proceeds from this event will go the Moore Public Schools Foundation for its school library collections.
