Living Arts of Tulsa is putting its newly opened space to work immediately, by hosting its first workshop in the new facility at 307 E. Brady St.

Jay Kreimer will conduct a "Found Sound Instrument Building" workshop, beginning at 7 p.m. Tuesday Sept. 1 at Living Arts.

The concept is to discover the sonic possibilities in things not normally considered as "musical instruments" -- anything from hollow-core doors to ping pong balls to garage door springs.

It is open to people of all ages and levels of musical and making experience. Materials will be provided, but you are encouraged to bring more to use and share. Bring things that hum, bang, echo and boom when you pluck or strike them.

Jay Kreimer has led instrument making workshops in locations as diverse as the Intuit Outsider Art Center in Chicago, and the Music School in Cork, Ireland. In the past year he has performed on three continents and a small assortment of islands.

Enroll by calling 585-1234 or emailing: steve@livingarts.org
