Madonna -- queen no more.
The former Queen of Pop (and trust me, it breaks my heart to write that), has had a pretty nasty week thus far.
Let's recap:
First, she was
booed at the 55th BFI London Film Festival, as she screened her latest directorial effort,
WE. The subject of the film is about another notoriously controversial woman, Wallis Simpson, whose romance with King Edward VIII led to his abdication of the throne in 1937.
Next, her brother tells reporters that he's
homeless and living under a bridge in their home state of Michigan. Ouch.
(This is her brother, Anthony, by the way, not Christoper, who wrote the nasty tell-all about his famous sister a couple of years ago.)
I've been a fan of Madonna since I was little, but I have to say, movies are not her forte, with the exception of
Desperately Seeking Susan, of course.
At least she can rest better with this news: Her pointy bustier made famous in her
Who's That Girl? tour (another movie disaster), was reportedly
auctioned for $72,000, according to the Daily Mail.
The celebrity memorabilia auction, held in Macau, China, featured more than 500 items, including 23 of Madonna's -- which all sold for a reported $100,000.
Well, take that. I've been a fan of Madge's since I was little, and I was lucky enough to see her in concert in 2008. My feet still hurt from jumping up and down -- she sang every song live and danced like she was 25.
But eventually all queens must abdicate, and looks like she's been properly dethroned -- by public opinion.
Will we all love to hate Lady GaGa one day?
