You asked for it, Tulsa, and the Admiral Twin Drive-in is delivering: On May 23, you can kick off the Memorial Day holiday ...
Whether you were among those collecting donations while the Admiral Twin Drive-in still burned or you simply love the place, you are welcome there Saturday afternoon to show your suppport in a magazine shoot.
Those who wear a "Save the Admiral Twin" T-shirt or any promotional item for the drive-in are exactly who the editors of Country Living magazine are looking for to appear in the 3:30 p.m. Saturday photo shoot at the drive-in.
Country Living is working on a story about the drive-in's comeback this summer and fall, two years after fire razed the all-wood screen tower, for its February edition.
A photographer will be at the drive-in on Friday as well as on Saturday taking photos for the issue, said Sara Morrow, an Oklahoma native now working for Country Living who will write the story.
As a side note: Screenings at the drive-in begin at 7 p.m. this weekend, with "Wreck-it Ralph" followed by "Frankenweenie" as one side's double-feature, and "Hotel Transylvania" followed by "Pitch Perfect" on the other side.
