Wendell Moore has been announced as Tulsa’s third assistant coach on Monday afternoon, completing new coach Danny Manning’s staff.
Moore has spent the past four years as an assistant coach at UMKC. He was also an assistant at Florida Atlantic for the prior two seasons.
Moore joins full-time assistants Brett Ballard and Steve Woodberry. Justin Bauman is the program’s director of operations.
“We’re extremely excited to have Wendell join our basketball staff. Wendell is very connected to the region having been a coach in Oklahoma at Redlands College and recently at UMKC in Kansas City, as well as playing at Hutchinson Junior College,” Manning said in a statement. “He’s been in the coaching profession for a very long time and has established strong recruiting ties around the country, especially in Texas, junior colleges and the Midwest region. I’ve known Wendell for a very long time and am pleased to have him and his family become a part of our TU family.”
“This is a tremendous opportunity for me in joining Danny’s staff,” Moore said. “It’s not too common to have a staff that is very familiar in the sense of having known each other for nearly 20 years and then having the basketball background too. For me, it’s a great opportunity to work and grow with people that you know and trust.”
There has been ongoing speculation that former Booker T. Washington head coach Shea Seals was a candidate for the final full-time assistant spot. Seals, the school’s all-time leading scorer, resigned from his position on April 16.
