It's about time.

X-Men has been known to push the envelope in the comic/fantasy world for decades, and their latest endeavor is no disappointment.

Writer Brian Wood is heading up the new series focusing on the women of the X-Men in the new team. The roster of Storm, Kitty Pryde, Rachel Grey, Rogue, Psylocke and Jubilee will explode into stores in April.

Each of these X-Women have a fantastic and lush backstory which begs for us to dive into this new occurrence in the Marvel Universe.

Storm

Storm was once revered as a goddess in Kenya, fought alongside the X-Men, saw Phoenix nearly destroy the universe, became leader of the Morlocks, had her powers stripped by Forge and later restored, led the X-Men after Jean Grey's death, worked with Cyclops to lead the Gold Team of X-Men in the 90s, became Queen of Wakanda, and lost her marriage when she fought against Phoenix returning.

Kitty Pryde

Kitty Pryde has gone through several aliases, from Sprite to Shadowcat. She has served on the teams as a recruit, a leader, and overall genius. She, along with Rachel, fought in the team Excalibur in the UK, had numerous tragedies and triumphs occur in her life, and now serves as headmistress for Wolverine's Jean Grey School for Higher Learning.

Rachel Grey

Rachel is the daughter of Scott Summers and Jean Grey from another timeline, in the future. In her world, mutants have been hunted to near extinction, and she was brutalized into becoming a 'hell-hound' to seek out mutants for slaughter.

She escaped that world, and is a permanent host to the Phoenix force.

Rogue

Rogue is a mysterious mutant who was adopted by Mystique and began her life as a criminal. She later joined the X-Men and has fought along side them for decades.

Psylocke

Psylocke was a happy addition to the 80s Australian X-Men, who was later kidnapped and brainwashed into becoming a ninja assassin.

Jubilee

Jubilee is an orphan with the former ability to generate fireworks. She was bitten by Twilight a few years ago and became goth-jubilee.

Apparently there will be some emphasis on Jubilee, which I hope translates into "Make her a normal human again because making her a vampire was a twilight marketing plot that failed horribly." Because it did.

Jubilee is one of the most underrated and awesome characters of the X-Men. I hope they find some way of returning her to normal. Or at least bring back Claremont's original light-show-bringer, the Dazzler.

Either way, this is a series you don't want to miss. It's epic in it's premise and I have no doubt will be spectacular in it's execution.

Also, Storm is back in her epic mohawk.

Epic. Mowhawk.
