For an extra special touch on those Memorial Day weekend cookouts, pick up housemade hamburger and bratwurst buns from one of three Merritt's Bakery locations. The buns are $2.75 for a package of six.
Other holiday specialty items include red, white and blue dessert cake ($19.75), a white cake with blueberry and strawberry filling and iced in whipped cream, and the strawberry roulade shortcake ($10), a chiffon cake rolled up with strawberries and whipped cream.
Merritt's always has an additional selection of pies and cakes that make good holiday desserts.
Merritt's will be open 6 a.m. t0 6 p.m. Saturday. It probably would be a good idea to get by Friday, or place an order by phone.
