Metro Christian senior defensive lineman Zach Webb announced on Sunday that he has committed to play football at the University of Tulsa.

Webb, who is 6-2 and 276 pounds, had 83 tackles, including six sacks in 2012. He was a Tulsa World and Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State defensive lineman.

Webb often drew double and triple teams at nose guard. Webb also was a World All-Metro selection as an offensive lineman. He helped the Patriots win a district title and reach the Class 3A quarterfinals.

Webb was on a visit to Missouri State on Saturday night when he received the scholarship offer from Tulsa.

“It was a long wait but well worth it,” said Webb, who also was seriously considering South Dakota State and Central Arkansas. “I am ready to sign right now. I am counting the days.”

Verbal commitments are not binding. National Signing Day is Feb. 6.

Webb, who plans on studying to become a physical therapist, attended five TU games in the 2012 season. The Golden Hurricane has commitments from both seniors who were World All-State defensive linemen. The other is Union's Dalton Rodriguez...

Devanta Johnson, who had four interceptions for Central in 2011 and would have entered the 2012 season as one of the area's top ranked defensive backs if he had not been plagued by eligibility problems, has committed to Northeastern A&M. Johnson, who had been projected as a major college prospect, transferred to East Central, but did not play in 2012.

Scottie Prealow, who is Owasso's career rushing leader, has committed to Lindenwood University, located in the St. Louis suburb of St. Charles, Mo. Prealow rushed for 1,762 yards and 20 TDs in 2012. He was a Tulsa World All-State second-team selection and All-Metro first-team selection.
