While much of the world is mourning, remembering, re-playing and maybe even rethinking Michael Jackson, this odd coincidence comes to mind:

June 26, 1284, is the day that, according to legend, the Pied Piper led 130 children away from the German town of Hamelin, after the townspeople wouldn't pay him for getting rid of the town's rats.

The musician and the children were never seen again.

Odd. Quite odd.

Britain's The Guardian published an interesting look at Jackson's life and career a couple of weeks ago, in advance of what was supposed to be a series of "comeback" concerts in England.
