We are to the half-way point of the season and it's been a doozie.
Cue Poison, we are offering you "Something to Believe In" ...
Believe in Brandon Lloyd: He is going to see you through to the fantasy playoffs. Great schedule -- Arizona twice, Cleveland and Seattle -- and Sam Bradford will be able to make those throws that A.J. Feeley can't. Lloyd should have had three touchdowns in that Saint game.
Believe in Arian Foster: It took him a little while to get his health back, but now he is hurting you each week. He is either running for 100 yards or catching passes for 100 yards or both at the same time. He is what we thought he was -- a legit fantasy star.
Believe in starting rookie quarterbacks: So, Cam Newton and Andy Dalton are doing what they said can't be done. Come of find out, Newton is a freak and Dalton is not the guy from "Road House." He's an accurate quarterback, not a tough bouncer hired to tame a dirty bar. So I believe we will see even more quarterbacks who played in pro-style systems in college go even higher in this year's draft. I though there were a lot of reaches this year. There will be even more next. Landry Jones is going to be a Denver Bronco next season and Tim Tebow is going to be an option guy wearing a Jacksonville Jaguar jersey.
Believe in Eli Manning: That takes a lot for me to say, because I have always thought this guy was overrated. But Victor Cruz is changing that. Cruz is the threat Manning has needed for years. The Giants are turning into the Lions -- they are thinking pass on first, second and third down. That is good for fantasy.
Believe in the Colts: Know that they have no idea how to win. Come to find out, Peyton Manning wasn't just a quarterback. He was also a defensive coordinator and even created a pass rush. Their owner is on Twitter all the time saying they are not tanking the season but can't actually provide any evidence of that in 140 characters. My bet? Peyton will want off this team. And fast. And Jerry Jones will be glad to trade for him.
Don't believe in Chris Johnson: Tell the 99 percent that the rich don't always get richer. Johnson is on his way to a 700-yard season, thanks to a big bank account and no emotion. I loved what Steven Jackson told Peter King this weekend after that Saints win:
"We had to punch the Saints in the mouth today. If you've ever been in a fight and tasted your own blood, that's what we were feeling -- and if you're a man, you fight back." Johnson has none of that kind of moxie in his heart. And that is why he's done.
Don't believe in the Browns running game: No matter who they give the ball to, this line can't open a hole. Colt McCoy is scaring no one with his 5-yard completions and I still can't name a Browns wide receiver. I hear they have great tight ends, but they must be running past McCoy's 5-yard range.
Don't believe in the Dolphins demise: This team wants to win. Just doesn't have enough great players. Matt Moore isn't horrible. Brandon Marshall is on the brink of being really good, if he could get a touchdown to happen. Once Daniel Thomas comes back, this team will win some more games. The coach still gets the hook, but don't count them completely out when it comes to fantasy points.
Don't believe in Joe Flacco: A quarterback who has to be reminded to throw to the best receiver on the team isn't a good one. Yes, that actually happened at halftime this week. I would rather have six other quarterbacks than Flacco right now. This guy is just not that good and his team is going to lean on Ray Rice even more because they want to win.
Don't believe in the Redskins: I know. Shocker. But this team is completely blank in the great player department. John Beck should be selling insurance. Santana Moss is a good player who is hurt. So many running backs, so few holes.
If I were you ... Grab Kevin Kolb: He won't save your life, but he will help in a bye week. He is finally getting comfortable in the offense and Larry Fitzgerald is finally getting some help on the other side of the field.
Grab Kendall Hunter: He's a backup of a guy who is prone to injury who is getting the ball 30 times a week for 150 yards. Just saying, he is standing in the on-deck circle and might get some games late when the 49ers are resting Frank Gore for the real playoffs.
Don't grab Shaun Hill: If Matthew Stafford plays like that while being questionable then Hill is never going to see the field. Stafford is playing his butt off. He almost had four TDs in that game.
Don't grab Delone Carter: If you can't outrun Curtis Painter against the bad Titans defense, then you don't deserve a roster spot. I forgot that Peyton Manning also was the pulling guard on this team as well.
