The 20-year-old singer and former Disney star finally talked about her controversial performance at the MTV's annual televised event, reported mtv.com Monday
In an interview taped by an MTV crew for a previously announced documentary, she breaks her silence about her over-the-top performance with singer Robin Thicke on the show. One that drew more than 300,000 tweets per minute and had all sorts of media abuzz – social and traditional.
"I don't pay attention to the negative," she said in the interview. "Ive seen this play out so many times, How many times have you seen this play out in pop music?
"Madonna's done it. Britney's done it. Every VMA performance, that's what you're looking for; you're wanting to make history. Me and Robin the whole time said, 'You know we're about to make history right now.' What's amazing is I think now, we're three days later and people are still talking about it.
"They're overthinking it. You're thinking about it more than I thought about it when I did it. Like, I didn't even think about it 'cause that's just me!"
The documentary will air sometime this fall on MTV, cable 39.
