Oklahoma alt-rock stalwart
Tyson Meade returns to Tulsa for a rare live performance, 7 p.m. July 19 at
Dwelling Spaces, 119 S. Detroit Ave. Tickets are $12, available at
ticketfly.com. Proceeds go to his Kickstarter campaign, which will help him record an album in China.
Tyson will be playing songs spanning more than 25 years of songwriting, including music from the Chainsaw Kittens, Defenestration and his solo work.
Meade, frontman for Norman glam-punk rock bands the
Chainsaw Kittens and
Defenestration, will collaborate on a new album with high school and college students in Shanghai, China, where he lived and taught for years.
This will be the first album in nearly 10 years for Meade, who has been living and teaching in Shanghai for the past 5 years.
