While some musicians may be offended by covers of their songs being posted on the internet but not Gotye.
The Australian musician has remixed covers of his most popular song into the mash-up video "Somebody That I Used to Know: A YouTube Orchestra."
"Reluctant as I am to add to the mountain of interpretations of Somebody That I Used To Know seemingly taking over their own area of the internet, I couldn't resist the massive remixability that such a large, varied yet connected bundle of source material offered," the Belgian-born artist wrote on his YouTube page, according to hollywoodreporter.com.
The mash-up includes no extra instruments, but Gotye said he used "EQ, filtering, pitch-shifting and time-stretching" tools to make it all fit together, reported the website Tuesday.
While earlier it appeared he was not so fond of the hit tune and went so far as to criticize "Glee" cast's performance of the song, he seems to feel differently about all those covers on YouTube.
"Thank you to everyone who has responded to Somebody That I Used To Know via YouTube," he wrote, according to the website. "It's truly amazing!"
The mash-up video has more than 1.8 million views on the Internet.
