He said, she said takes on a whole new meaning with the publication on Friday of my 8-year-old daughter's review of "Kit Kittredge: An American Girl" beside my own critique of the new film, starring Abigail Breslin.
The line of dolls and books from American Girl are geared toward young girls, and yes, my daughter is a fan of these little women detailing their lives during World War II or the Great Depression or some other era.
So when Picturehouse Studios invited my daughter Melina to join me at an advance screening, I was intrigued to see what she would take from the movie and how she would form her opinion.
I certainly hear enough of her criticisms at home, but those are usually reserved for subjects like eating more vegetables, watching less television and the timetable for receiving her allowance.
I'm pleased with Melina's brief adventure into the family business. The words you see in her article are hers, which I typed in from multiple hand-written pages.
I didn't change any of her ideas, but I organized her thoughts and corrected the spelling for my daughter, who will be a third-grader at Zarrow International School this fall.
As you will see, her thoughts are independent and differ from mine on more than one point. She's such a little debater.
I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm proud of you, Melina.
