I swear I didn't plan it this way; it just happened. On the days leading up to Valentine's Day I took my wife to a Philly cheesesteak sandwich shop, a casino buffet and a bar.

"You take me to all of the most romantic places," she cooed.

Form your own opinion about these dining spots by reading my reviews in Thursday's Weekend section, where I will take a look at the reborn Phat Philly's, the new Osage Casino buffet and Fat Daddy's Pub & Grille.

And where did we go on Valentine's Day? Absolutely nowhere. We stayed home, where we opened a bottle of wine and I cooked my wife a dinner of lobster tails, baked sweet potatoes, salad and French bread. Heavenly.
