What's the most embarrassing thing ...

As I confessed in my Tuesday column, I'm a clumsy hooker.

But I'm also nosy, as I want to hear about YOUR most embarrassing ...

Is it really vandalism when it's a sticker with the words "nipple clamps"?

Aside from enjoying humorous ones spied on others' automobiles, I'm not a fan of bumper stickers.

I blame my father, ...

Where is the oddest place you've ever taken cover during bad weather?

During last week's bad weather, when a tornado siren sounded around midnight, I was caught at a midtown QuikTrip.

Other than Mom and Dad's company, this was my favorite thing at breakfast all week long, along with a sunny morning view out the windows of the rose bushes between the house and Eastabutchie Road. That's "east-uhh-BUTCH-ee."

Fresh blueberries made for a fabulously sweeter twist (and healthier, right?) on the classic mojito at the Purple Parrot restaurant in H'burg.

For some reason, it didn't occur to me to take a photo of my hot fudge shake, but this sign on the back door at PDI's in Laurel caught my eye. I kinda want it for my back porch.

I miss coffee, biscuits and homemade preserves.

The entire week I was in Mississippi visiting my family, Mom made coffee, bacon and biscuits, the latter of which she served with either fig preserves or mayhaw jelly. Law, those things were awesome!

Now, back to real, bill-receiving, 112-degree life, I'm eating oatmeal and drinking nothing but water, except for the packet of Crystal Light peach or raspberry green tea I put in my water around 3 p.m. instead of my usual afternoon Diet Coke. Surprisingly, I've only had one homicidal thought since Wednesday, so go me!

I have very fond memories still percolating in my noggin from vacation, so I thought I'd share a few of the edible ones here.

Homemade fig preserves on buttered biscuits. This particular jar at right was made by a woman from my parent's church -- some nice Southern lady who probably says "Bless your heart" a lot and went out of her way last week to patronize Chick-fil-A. Whatever, these things were AMAZING! It's best that I don't know how to make preserves.

Blueberry Mojito. This was one of the yummiest things I tasted while in Mississippi. I met my cousin for dinner at the Purple Parrot in Hattiesburg. Apparently, it was oysters-on-a-half-shell night or something special, so the place was crowded. While waiting for our table, I ordered a blueberry mojito, which was uh-MAZE-ing -- fresh Miss'ippi blueberries and fresh mint from Lord knows where.

Hot fudge shakes at PDI. While visiting Mamaw Wright in Laurel, I went with her, Uncle Jim, my cousin Stephanie and her twin girls to PDI's -- a.k.a., Phillips Drive-In -- for a shake. Long a lover of hot fudge, my favorite thing there (despite the wonderful cherry and strawberry shakes) was the hot fudge one. Not sundae, thank you, but shake. Having not had one in more than 20 years, it was pretty freakin' delightful.

So what were YOUR favorite things from a vacation this year? I sincerely want to know, as I really, really want another vacation right now and, well, your recollections will just have to do.

Peace, love and blueberry parrots ... XOXO
