A longtime acquaintance, Rob Morgan, took a trip to New Orleans in November and dined at Emeril's Delmonico, Commander's Palace, Gumbo Shop, Remoulade's, Palace Cafe and Corner Grocery.
The food, he said, was as good as ever, but "one thing I noticed was that the quality of the service at every restaurant was lower than I remembered (before Katrina). Suzy, my wife, spoke to some management at Palace Cafe, and they told her that before Katrina they had 51 waitstaff and only 17 of those had returned at this point."
Rob said there was plenty of staff at each restaurant, just younger and less trained than before.
"We did get our muffaletta at Corner Grocery, and it was a great meal for the plane ride home," he said.
