I just read this info from a press rep for
Riggs, a singer/guitarist/songwriter, formerly of
White Zombie.
His band, Scum of the Earth, will release its second album, "Sleaze Freak," next week. It rocks. After this first listen, I thought, "Man, that's a dark album." (Understatement!)
Maybe so, but it also has a ton of uniquely odd touches like handclaps and synth beats layered over Riggs' heavy, White Zombie-meets-Ministry-esque sound. It totally works. After reading the release, I feel like I have a better understanding of the eccentric feel.
From the release:
Riggs is quite an interesting character. He's a diagnosed schizophrenic and spent years in various mental institutions as a child. Only fitting that he grew up to be a rock star! He also owns a guitar that's been wrapped in pigskin which has two images tattooed on it: a skull and cross-bones and "(censored) You" He's planning on getting more tattoos on the guitar in the coming weeks. I can send a photo if you'd like to check it out. He still has his infamous "blood" guitar which can be seen in the video (link below).
He currently resides in a ... trailer in Arkansas. He won't divulge the city for security reasons.
The demos for SLEAZE FREAK were recorded in the makeshift recording studio that Riggs put together in the house. The gear has been put in storage so it's not stolen if the trailer's ever broken into.
I SO want to interview this guy. Seriously. Hope he tours the Tulsa area, cuz I'm all over it.
