Does the 'net creep you out? Do you trust it?

According to a recent study by Harris Interactive, 98 percent of Americans distrust the Internet.

Of the 1,900 people who participated in the study 67 percent were concerned about wasting their time, 63 percent were worried about getting a computer virus, 51 percent were afraid of losing money, another 51 percent were concerned about the risk of fraud and 36 percent of the participants feared the Internet would cause damage to their credibility.

And reasons Americans distrust the Internet?

Too many ads (59 percent)
Outdated info (56 percent)
Self-promotional info (53 percent)
Unfamiliar forums (45 percent)

But what do you think? Is the Internet trustworthy? To what degree is it or isn't it? Why?
