We have five pairs of tickets to the Sept. 13 show at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Tulsa. Here’s what you need to do to get yourself entered to win. There are two ways to do it:
- Just find the Lynyrd Skynyrd story on tulsaworld.com/scene and leave us a comment about why you want to see the show.
- Or go to tulsaworld.com/scenefb or tulsaworld.com/twfacebook, like the page and share a Lynyrd Skynyrd post on your own page for chance to win.
I grew up on Skynyrd, being that I grew up in Arkansas and the son of a southern man myself.
Skynyrd achieved phenominal success in the mid-1970s with hits like “Sweet Home Alabama,” “Free Bird” and many more. An unfortunate plane crash killed several of the founding members, leaving the band shaken. After a short break, the band got back to the studio and on the road with the remaining members and new additions.
While the people may be different, the band members now can bring the same sound to Tulsa, a sound familiar to those who grew up with the music or jammed with the hits in the 70s. I know a few of you have yelled “FREE BIRD” at a band in the past. Here’s your chance, though I’m nearly 100 percent sure they would hate that. So, better not.
