Anyone care for thirds? Not me, thank you.

You’ve swung into “Spider-Man 3,” forked over the green for “Shrek the Third,” dropped some doubloons for “Pirates 3” (not the title, but not fooling anyone) and gambled on “Ocean’s Thirteen.”

Seen any good movies lately?

I know you like comfort food, that these people seem like old friends, that it’s easy to go see these titles.

But think about it this way: If your friends kept inviting you over, feeding you the same menu, and the meal is less satisfying each time, would you keep RSVPing with “Looking forward to it. See you on Friday!” or would you decide that act has grown a little stale?

If you’re looking for something tasty, go see “Waitress,” a delicious comedy full of friendly folks and witty repartee. It’s new. It’s fresh. It’s got pie. What more do you want?

I realize you’ve been spoiled. The second “Spider-Man” film was excellent, “Shrek 2” was a joy, and, well, some people liked that second “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie a lot. You entered the summer moviegoing season with expectations.

I know, that’s enough, stop attacking your opening-weekend party plans. But as you prepare for the rest of summer, with a film franchise sequel or remake coming out each week for the next two months, ask yourself a question: Are you willing to admit that any of the aforementioned blockbusters’ third time out was the best yet for that franchise?

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
