Grandma's opera glasses kept this little one occupied before the show.

Sunday was a special day for my family. Four generations of women sat side by side watching the Tulsa Ballet's "The Nutcracker."

It's something my sister and I had done with my mother and grandmother since we were little girls, in white tights and black patent leather shoes. So it was one of those "remember this moment" kind of days – to have my 2 1/2 year old twin girls seated between my grandmother, mother, aunt and me.

Truth be told, there might have been a moment when the girls' seats were empty as they decided it would be more fun to sit on the floor of the PAC. And when one of my little ones decided to kick the seat in front of her, a trickle of sweat slid down my cheek. Luckily, the woman in front of us was unbelievably kind and patient, perhaps because she had several seats of toddlers with her, too.

When the Sugar Plum Fairy took the stage, the kicking and wiggling stopped. In the days since, they've made several attempts to dance just like her.

We're already looking forward to next year’' show.

Several performances remain this season.

"The Nutcracker"
7 p.m. Friday and Dec. 22-23
2 and 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday
Tulsa PAC, 101 E. Third St.
