Sports Illustrated revealed its
preseason Top 25 poll Wednesday morning, and Oklahoma State was noticeably absent.
Despite being picked by the media to win the Big 12 and voted 14th nationally in the preseason coaches poll, the Cowboys were left out. Fellow conference teams Texas (11th), TCU (16th), Baylor (17th) and Oklahoma (19th) made the cut.
Asked on Twitter about OSU's exclusion, SI.com writer Andy Staples said it was not a misprint but he would jump the Cowboys "way up" if they beat Mississippi State in the Aug. 31 opener.
So at least one media outlet thinks OSU still has to prove it belongs on the national scene. Isn't that true with every team at this point? Given the expectations, returning players and conference picture, it is surprising for the Big 12 favorite to be omitted. But on the bright side for Cowboy fans, preseason polls mean absolutely nothing.
