Sugarland leads the pack of artists announced Tuesday for
Country Music Television’s awards show next month with five nominations.
Brad Paisley and Taylor Swift are next with four each, followed by Rascal Flatts (inlcluding Picher native Joe Don Rooney) and newcomers Lady Antebellum, each with three fan-voted nominations.
Kelly Pickler and CMT personality Lance Smith announced the finalists on air Tuesday morning.
Sugarland is nominated twice for Duo Video of the Year — for “All I Want to Do” and “Already Gone.” They also received two for “Life in a Northern Town” with Little Big Town and Jake Owen: Collaborative Video and Performance of the Year.
Their final nod is video of the year for “All I Want to Do.”
Okie Toby Keith is nominated in Video of the Year and Male Video of the Year categories, with “God Love Her.”
Checotah native Carrie Underwood is nominated for Video of the Year with “Just a Dream.”
Tishomingo farm girl Miranda Lambert is nominated for Female Video of the Year with “More Like Her.”
Brooks and Dunn (featuring former Tulsan Ronnie Dunn) is nominated for Duo of the Year with “Put a Girl in it.” The pair’s video with Reba McEntire, “Cowgirls Don’t Cry” is also nominated for Collaborative Video of the Year.
Directors Trey Fanjoy (Trisha Yearwood), Deaton Flanigan (Brooks and Dunn, Rascal Flatts), Roman White (Carrie Underwood, Reba McEntire) are also nominated in the Director of the Year category.
British rocker Def Leppard is nominated for performance of the year and wide open country video of the year.
Viewers cast more than 2.5 million votes to decide four finalists in most categories. Fans can see the full list of nominees and vote online at
CMT.com through June 15 to determine the winners. The awards show will air live 7 p.m. June 16 on CMT, Tulsa cable channel 64.
Live performers will include Trace Adkins, Jason Aldean, Dierks Bentley, Toby Keith, Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts, Sugarland, Taylor Swift, Keith Urban and Def Leppard.
