Viewership for “The Voice” may have been down 7 percent, but “Voice” coach and Oklahoma country star Blake Shelton helped NBC draw more than 10 million viewers to win last night’s ratings race.
The Oklahoman’s first holiday TV special “Blake Shelton’s Not So Family Christmas,” which followed “The Voice” in the lineup, drew almost as many viewers as the winter finale of NBC’s hit series “The Revolution,” reported deadline.com.
The special, which included comedy skits and songs with appearances by Jay Leno; Reba McEntire; his wife, Miranda Lambert; and fellow “Voice” judge Christina Aguilera, earned a 2.8 rating and a 7 share. That was one-tenth of a percent off the “Revolution” ratings.
NBC won the night in total viewers and the 18-49 demographic with 10.979 million watching CBS finishing second with 8.9 million viewers.
Overall, viewership for all network TV was down as expected because of the holiday season, according to the website.
The special will be rebroadcast at 7 p.m. Dec. 14 on NBC, channel 2, cable 9.
In this video, Shelton and his mother Dorothy Shackleford talk about their favorite Christmas memories. They sang a duet together on the show.
