The International Space Station(NASA)
Tomorrow, students and teachers from Stillwater Public Schools and pre-service teachers who are pursuing education degrees from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, will have the rare opportunity to talk with the Commander of the International Space Station (ISS).
As part of NASA's Teaching From Space education program, and in order to help foster interest the fields of study in the categories of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), Space Station Commander Kevin Ford will answer questions "about life, work and research aboard the orbiting laboratory during an even at the university," according to a
press release from NASA.
Kevin Ford is a retired United States Air Force Colonel who has been with NASA since 2000, where he has served in a myriad of positions including the Director Of Operations at the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center in Star City, Russia. He has been aboard the ISS since Oct 23, as part of Expedition 34. The talk is one in a series with schools around the world to improve STEM teaching and learning.
