"Weird Al" Yankovic is the No. 1-selling comedy recording artist of all-time and the winner of three Grammy Awards.
For those who remember the "Weird Al" Yankovic comedy "UHF" -- and especially those who remember it filming in Tulsa in 1988 -- multiple events are being staged next month to celebrate the cult favorite.
The 25th anniversary remembrance of it filming here will include a special screening of "UHF" at Circle Cinema, 10 S. Lewis Ave., that will be followed by a question-and-answer session with Yankovic.
Tickets for this event, on Sept. 24 at 7 p.m., have already been moving quickly and in bunches, the theater reports. There is little doubt that some who appeared as extras or who in some way worked on the film will see this as a nostalgic reunion.
Tickets are on sale at Circle Cinema and online at tulsaworld.com/circle.
If you want to make sure that you see "Weird Al" on that same day, you can arrive early to Circle Cinema for his book signing of his new children's book, "My New Teacher and Me!"
This is a sequel to Yankovic's best-selling "When I Grow Up," and the Tulsa City-County Library and Steve's Sundry are helping to sponsor this event. The book signing is 4 p.m. on Sept. 24 at Circle Cinema.
More events -- a poster/art contest, pledge-drive broadcasts of the movie on RSU Public TV as October pledge-drive events -- are also scheduled before Yankovic returns to Tulsa on Oct. 19 for his "The Alpocalypse Tour" concert at Brady Theater.
Tickets for the October concert are on sale online at tulsaworld.com/brady.
If you don't remember "UHF" or are young enough to have never been exposed to the wacky satire of "Weird Al" -- the No. 1-selling comedy recording artist in history and winner of three Grammys -- check out the trailer and remember: It was all filmed in Tulsa.
