People say that the painted bunting is arguably the most attractive bird in North America.

I say why argue?

It is, plain and simple – although nothing is plain about the painted bunting.

Harvey and Leisa Payne shared a couple photos with me that they caught Sunday morning and said it’d be OK if I shared them here.

Although they are brightly colored in all the primary colors –red, yellow and blue, with a yellow-green thrown in for good measure, the buntings are not easy to find as they stick to thickets, brushy fields and forest edges. Catching one in nice light is a prize for any wildlife photographer.

Kudos to Leisa and Harvey; and thanks for sharing.
