I remember years ago, when those Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey guys would happily play for 6 people in an empty club. To see thousands squeeze in to watch a set -- and yelling out song titles for the band to play to boot, was awesome.
And what Tom Green and Angie DeVore Green, Dfest co-creators, have done with this festivtal hit me during the Zappa Plays Zappa set. To go from a small showcase on an outdoor stage with a few dozen attendees to, 7 years later, 60,000 people and more than 130 acts, defines the indie ethos. Thank you both.
