College football season arrived Wednesday, when OSU football publicist Gavin Lang unveiled an online version of the Cowboys’ 2012 media guide.
What’s on the cover? The dominant image is of a black OSU helmet being held high by an “unidentified” arm. Below that are three smaller pictures of “cover boys,” including a legit cover man in cornerback Brodrick Brown, guard Lane Taylor and kicker Quinn Sharp.
Pictures (all similarly sized) of safety Daytawion Lowe, running back Jeremy Smith, receiver Isaiah Anderson, defensive end Cooper Bassett, defensive end Nigel Nicholas, guard Jonathon Rush and linebackers Caleb Lavey, Shaun Lewis and Alex Elkins adorn the inside back cover and outside back cover.
Clue: The fact that all three starting linebackers made the “cut” should tell you a lot about how the Cowboys feel about their ‘backers.
What about All-Big 12 running back Joseph Randle? He didn’t get ignored. There’s a full-page picture of him leading into the player bio section of the media guide.
The depth chart appears to have been tweaked only slightly since OSU printed a spring football guide. Spring game sensation Charlie Moore, listed as a backup to Tracy Moore prior to spring drills, now is listed as a backup to Anderson at another receiver position.
True freshman Wes Lunt is, of course, listed first at quarterback. The only other first-year freshman on the two-deep is receiver C.J. Curry, who is listed behind Tracy Moore.
All February signees were accounted for in the media guide with one exception. Stillwater High School’s Jesse Vester, who double-signed with OSU and Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, is expected to begin his career at NEO.
