WEATHER WORLD
While I do these reports weekly with the release of the U.S. Drought Monitor map, here's a reminder for those just tuning ...
A scene from the Oklahoma-filmed movie 'Twister' to lead-in to this topic:
When the movie's character who doesn't ...
It's not a Tulsa urban legend, myth or a running joke: It really does rain every year (since 2008) at downtown's Mayfest.
And ...

Areas in orange were under a severe thunderstorm warning earlier today. NWS map

That severe thunderstorm warning earlier today wasn't for Tulsa County, but further east.
Much of the southeastern part of the state near the Arkansas border remains under a severe weather watch as I write this (check
tulsaworld.com/nws for the latest watches and warnings) but due east of Tulsa and north along the Arkansas border is where a lot of the rain already fell today.
As of 2:35 p.m. today, rainfall (in inches) since midnight:
Cloudy: 0.09
Cookson: 0.20
Jay: 0.20
Miami: 0.01
Mount Hermon: 0.12
Pryor: 0.03
Sallisaw: 0.12
Stigler: 0.05
Tahlequah: 0.25
Talihina: 0.04
Vinita: 0.06
Webbers Falls: 0.01
Westville: 0.09
Wilburton: 0.03

Source: Oklahoma MesonetDon't be too down if your area missed the rainfall today -- there is currently a very strong chance of rain forecast for the Tulsa area on
Wednesday and Thursday.
