June has been very dry for much of the state, including Tulsa and northeast Oklahoma.

Though, I’m sure you don’t need me to tell you that; your yards and gardens can probably tell you better than I can.

Brief thundershowers blew through Friday night. Not enough to make much of a difference in the monthly total, but apparently enough to wet the road for some of the Tulsa Tough races and give us a pretty good light show.

In fact, only a trace of precipitation was measured at Tulsa International Airport and at Jones Jr. Airport, the National Weather Service’s official monitoring stations in Tulsa.

And that trace is all that’s fallen in the 11 days of June. Tulsa's rainfall is nearly 2 inches below normal for the month.

Some parts of Oklahoma have seen rain this month. Oklahoma Mesonet recording stations show some recent measurable rainfall in southwest and central parts of the state, an area that desperately needs the precipitation. Though, it's too late to save this year's wheat crop, which according to World Business Writer Kyle Arnold's story in today's paper is "bad."

Storms are currently rolling along generally south of Interstate 40 in eastern Oklahoma, with a chance of some more rainfall in the Tulsa area. NWS forecasters are calling for a 40 percent chance of rain Saturday night.

And let’s hope they are right. I know some farmers out there who will take whatever rain they can get.
