AOL Music’s The Boot website reports that Chockie native Reba McEntire gave a huge gift to her community over the holidays: Thousands of meals.
She donated an undisclosed amount of money to The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma, but enough for “200,000 meals,” The Boot reports.
“To know that you can lend a hand and make someone’s life a little better, brings you back up to realize why you are on this earth in the first place,” she told the blog. “And that’s to learn how you can grow as a better person by giving and loving.”
The donation will help the Food for Kids Backpack Program.
Added Rodney Bivens, executive director of the Regional Food Bank, “We are thankful for this generous donation from Reba McEntire. No child should ever have to go to bed with the pains of hunger in their stomach.”
