Missouri beat writer Dave Matter of the Columbia Daily Tribune, citing an unnamed source, is reporting that former Missouri offensive coordinator and assistant head coach David Yost has been offered the offensive coordinator position at Oklahoma State.

Yost spent 12 seasons on Gary Pinkel’s staff. Citing personal reasons, Yost resigned at the end of this season. The Tigers are bowl-less because they went 5-7 during their inaugural tour of the SEC.

“There are a lot of factors that played into the process of coming to my decision,” Yost said in a press release about his resignation. “I feel like I’ve had a great run here and that it’s just the right time to turn it over to someone else. On one hand, it’s a really hard decision to make, but on the other hand, I feel good that it’s the right decision at the right time for me.”

Missouri was consistently good on offense during Yost’s tenure, but the Tigers ranked 11th among SEC teams in scoring and total offense this season. He tutored three all-league quarterbacks (Chase Daniel, Blaine Gabbert, Brad Smith) at Missouri and also coached placekickers, according to bio information on the Missouri athletics web site.

Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy was sent several questions Tuesday about OSU’s short-term and long-term plan to replace former offensive coordinator Todd Monken, who is Southern Miss’ new head coach and will not coach in the Heart of Dallas Bowl. Gundy indicated he will not be responding to questions until a regularly scheduled media availability session on Friday.
