My birthday cake balls are history.

Now, I have one full year to get into the best shape of my life before the 20th high school reunion I probably won't even attend but have every intention of using as a weight-loss goal.

My favorite health-friendly foods are salads, and it just so happens that some of my most beloved meals, period, are salads. So this week I thought I'd roll out SALAD DAYS, my five fave salads from around town.

First up is the shrimp salad from Cancun, 705 S. Lewis Ave. I've written about this place at least once before, but it bears repeating that the shrimp salad is one of the healthiest, simplest and flat-out tastiest entrees at any restaurant in town.

Basically, it's plump shrimp in lime juice with onions, cilantro, cucumbers, tomatoes and spices -- and it's absolutely fabulous.

A small version would totally suffice, but I usually order the large because I'm a big ol' hog. Still, with all that food, it's pretty waist-friendly. And doesn't spicy food boost your metabolism? Yeah, so you can, like, eat two of 'em or something.

Next time you're in the TU area, stop by Cancun -- but not on Wednesdays because they're closed.

Hours: 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

For more, call 918-583-8089.

Peace, love and shrimp ... XOXO

P.S.: Have you tried something like this somewhere else in town? Where is it, and what do you like about it? Or do you have a recipe like it? PLEASE SHARE!
