The announcement that Disney has purchased Lucasfilm and will soon be producing "Star Wars 7", brought one interesting question: What is going to happen to the Dark Horse Comics' multiple titles based on the franchise's lore? Everybody already kind of assumes that once the contracts at Dark Horse are up, Disney will shift publication over to Marvel, which Disney also owns, and coincidentally is where the first run of Star Wars comics were produced from 1977 to 1986.

Apparently no one told Dark Horse that, because they are releasing a new title on January 9th simply titled "Star Wars" with no sub-title. The series is taking place during the events of the original trilogy, and is directly informed by the events in "A New Hope."

Our friends over at Nerdist caught up with writer Brian Wood, who has had some very successful runs on X-Men and Conan among others, and he shared some insight on the new story and brought along some preview pages.
