What's interesting about the extreme makeover of Oklahoma's wide receiver position is it involves FBS transfers, a rarity since Bob Stoops became coach.
Justin Brown escaped Penn State, and now he challenging to start both at outside receiver and on punt returns. Jalen Saunders left Fresno State after the 2011 season. He appealed the NCAA for an eligbility waiver, and while he waits word, he has reportedly looked good in OU's camp as a slot receiver.
Together with former Arizona defensive back Cortez Johnson, they give the Sooners three FBS transfers in camp.
Near as we can tell, Stoops had a total of five FBS transfers contribute over his first 13 years at OU. In order of impact, they were:
Nate Hybl
He went 17-42 for 255 yards in the 1999 Georgia spring game, but was in Norman by the following summer. He started 10 games in 2001, then led the Sooners to Big 12 championship and Rose Bowl victory as an '02 senior.
Lynn McGruder
Ran into trouble at Tennessee, then transferred to OU and wound up winning a Big 12 sportsmanship award in 2003 along with Mark Clayton (the two pulled a family from a burning car after an accident along I-35). McGruder started two years at defensive tackle, and pressuring Matt Leinart into a safety for OU's final points in his final game, the '05 Orange Bowl debacle.
Blake Ferguson
A North Carolina Tar Heel in 2000 while his older brother, Jeff, punted for OU's national champs, Blake moved to Norman in '01 and wound up punting for the Sooners from '02-'04. He is best remembered for his fake punt completion to Michael Thompson that sparked OU to victory at Alabama in '03.
Jarvis Jones
Ran into trouble at LSU, then transferred to OU and wound up becoming an All-Big 12 tackle/guard as an '09 sophomore. Jones started again the following season, but was a disappointing reserve in '11.
Brian Lepak
A 12-game starter at Colorado State in '07, Lepak walked on at OU, where his parents met and his older siblings attended school. He started the '09 Bedlam victory at center after the Sooner line had been decimated, and won the Sooner Schooner Award for his GPA in the spring of '11.
