DirecTV can bring the popular South by Southwest music festival into your home -- live -- for three days in March.
The special, "DirecTV SXSW Live," will broadcast live and in HD and for subscribers only, and will be hosted by former MTV VJ and music expert Matt Pinfield, March 13-15 on Channel 101, "The 101."
Legendary Los Angeles punk band X, The Von Bondies, Deana Carter, Earlimart, Sons & Daughters, Daryl Hall and Martha Wainwright are the first to join the roster with additional acts to be announced in the coming weeks.
The show will feature 24 live performances, backstage interviews with the industry’s hottest up-and-coming and established artists, behind-the-scenes coverage and commentary by music industry experts.
Each night, television coverage will begin at 4 p.m., with eight live performances and and an encore presentation of the special airing at midnight.
The broadcasts will originate from new state-of-the-art venues, The Lone Star Lounge, with a traditional Texas feel, and modern music club, The Bat Bar. Both venues have been constructed from the ground up in the Austin Convention Center to host the exclusive performances.
Also, an interactive feature will be available via DirecTV remote controls, which will provide the performance schedule and essential band information and history.
