A pregnant teenager is no doubt already scared. She probably doesn't need a public service campaign to remind her that it wasn't exactly a good plan.

Recent ads in New York feature crying babies looking directly into the camera.

"Got a good job?" a child asks on one of the posters. "I cost thousands of dollars a year."

What exactly is the ad suggesting that a pregnant teen do about it?

Anti-abortion groups have criticized the campaign for blaming the babies themselves, instead of discouraging early sexual activity.

But Planned Parenthood denounced the ads, too.

"The latest NYC ad campaign creates stigma, hostility, and negative public opinions about teen pregnancy and parenthood," Planned Parenthood said, "rather than offering alternative aspirations for young people.”
