The verdict on Madonna's performance at the Super Bowl seems split evenly between her fans (like me), who loved it -- and her haters, who said she was "too old" to be kicking and dancing.

It makes no difference -- she's still polarizing, and that's exactly the way she wants it.

So instead I'm focusing today on the knockout performance at the top of show -- Kelly Clarkson's terrific version of "The Star-Spangled Banner."

She absolutely aced the anthem, unlike so many celebrities and so-called singing professionals these days.

But was it just me, or did Kelly get robbed of some much-deserved face time?

It seems to me after repeat viewings, that that the game-faced players, the school children, the team coaches, team owners and their families -- and essentially, everybody on the football field but Kelly -- got more camera time.

What the what?

At one point, I said out loud, 'Where did she go?'

Usually the camera is zoomed in and ready for a flub, but Kelly was flawless. She looked cool and calm, but she Tweeted after the Super Bowl:

"I've never been more nervous in my life than singing the national anthem at the Super Bowl tonight."

She was poised and perfect -- well, what we could see of her performance, anyway.
