Well, I suppose swoon isn't really the best word to describe today's news that Keira Knightley will reunite with Pride and Prejudice and Atonement director, Joe Wright, to play the tragic literary figure.
Leo Tolstoy's Anna Karenina is one of my favorite novels, and it's about time it got a modern -- but still billowy -- big screen treatment. I think Wright is just the director, after an impressive feat with 2005's Pride and Prejudice.
But if you can't wait until late 2012 for the epic romance of Anna K., you're in luck. I just watched Cary Fukunaga's sensuous adaptation of Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre , new to DVD.
It's sooooo romantic and beautifully filmed. Our film critic Michael Smith gave it four stars, and it should garner at the very least a few Oscar nominations -- especially for Jane, played by Alice in Wonderland actress, Mia Wasikowska. She's a star, and so is her Mr. Rochester, played by the Next Big Thing, Michael Fassbender.
