The Man in Black for this showcase performance at
Sax, Clogs and Rock and Roll at
South by Southwest in Austin on Thursday.
For the first time in South by Southwest history, the monolith music and industry festival featured a full afternoon of Oklahoma music.
Thursday's Sax, Clogs and Rock N Roll showcase at Palm Door in downtown Austin was fast-paced and surreal, featuring eight Oklahoma acts in a little over three hours on two stages.
The eight acts were nothing if not eclectic: Americana, pop, rock, indie, jam, singer-songwriter, sultry, smart and psychedelic. Included were Stars Go Dim, Marcy Priest, Ryan Lindsey, Ali Harter, Colourmusic, Daniel Walcher, The Uglysuit, Beau Jennings and Samantha Crain and the Midnight Shivers.
"All the industry people we know were like, 'Wow!'" said Sax, Clogs & Rock N Roll showcase co-organizer and Dfest co-founder Angie DeVore Green. "They didn't expect anything like this at an Oklahoma showcase."
Indeed.
