While wide receiver Keyarris Garrett has been cleared to play against Rice, a University of Tulsa spokesman said on Friday night that Cody Green’s shoulder issue continues to linger and could affect the junior quarterback’s status for Saturday’s 2:30 p.m. homecoming contest at H.A. Chapman Stadium.

Green has taken every important snap during TU’s run to a 6-1 overall record and 4-0 start in Conference USA. He sustained a right-shoulder injury at Marshall on Oct. 6 but was able to start during last week’s home victory over UTEP. The right shoulder is Green’s throwing shoulder. Whether he starts on Saturday will be a “game-time decision,” the TU spokesman said.

Listed as the Golden Hurricane’s backup QB is sophomore Kalen Henderson, who in three game appearances was 7-of-22 passing for 68 yards. If Green does not play, TU’s reliance on Conference USA’s most productive ground game would be even more pronounced.

On Thursday, TU reported that Garrett – the team leader in catches and receiving yards – was not expected to play against Rice because of an undisclosed health issue.

The Hurricane spokesman said Garrett was checked again by medical personnel and now is expected to start against the Owls. A 6-foot-4, 205-pound sophomore, he has 25 receptions for 325 yards and four touchdowns.
