The 9/11 theme alone has made the upcoming drama "Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close" a presumed Oscar contender. A new trailer gives a larger glimpse of the story, and why the movie is likely a best picture nominee.
Briefly, a young boy's father is killed in the World Trade Center bombing. Like the rest of us 10 years ago, he can't make sense of the tragedy, but when he finds a key his father left behind, the boy decides that dad must have wanted him to find something.
To further the Academy Award resume, there's also the fact that the film stars Oscar winners Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock. It's written by Oscar winner Eric Roth ("Forrest Gump") and directed by Stephen Daldry, who remarkably has been nominated for best director for each of his first three movies ("Billy Elliott," "The Hours" and "The Reader").
Check out the new trailer here for "Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close," which will open in Tulsa in January.
