Jason Wu for Target started yet another shopping craze.
Target is becoming quite the mecca for fashionistas looking for a good bargain.
First came
Missoni, which sold out in record time and crashed the Target website.
Now comes
Jason Wu, which was released on Super Bowl Sunday.
Stories are all over the Internet: A
Miami, Fla. couple apparently bought out the collection, causing furor among customers who waited in line.
As revenge, they were caught in the act via smartphone video and promptly criticized by thousands of angry customers.
I did a quick, albeit informal, telephone survey this morning for Tulsa stores.
The operators I spoke with at the Targets near 21st Street and Yale Avenue, and near 101st Street and Memorial Drive, both said they had "some" Jason Wu items left.
When pressed, the consensus was "not very much."
Stock is also limited online -- many items say "sold out online," or "available at local stores."
So good luck finding anything that fits, not to mention accessories.
The lesson here is that Target has invented a winning formula with these collaborations.
If shoe designer Christian Louboutin -- he of the famous, red-soled heels -- did a Target collection, I'll bet it would crash the Internet.
We shoppers are serious about discount fashion.
